What we're here for.
An intoduction by Blake Kirkpatrick
Throughout the process of figuring out how all of this works, we found that its not always easy to make changes. Along the way we have hit road block after road block, rarely faltering when personal needs (or anything for that matter) got in the way. Our goals have changed, our bank account has had its highs and lows, team moral moved up and down like the current stock market, then something happened.
We received word from Guatemala that two youth were in desperate need of some help. Norita a young girl who suffered from Polio as a small child and could not walk on her own, and Moises a 3 year old boy who was born on the floor of a dirty bathroom, contracted meningitis and is severely handicapped, Moises' mother has carried him everywhere on her back for 3 years. One wheelchair and a walker was all that was needed to change two lives forever. The task seemed simple; thanks to donations,we acquired the two items and sent them to the families in Guatemala, with the help of Steve Allen a friend of the foundation who took time during his humanitarian trip to deliver them for us!
A week later it hit us! We received pictures and stories of the delivery from Steve. Tears filled the eyes of those who we had helped, their gratitude towards us was unbearable.Sitting around talking about it, we all realized that we had made a real change to someones life; something that would never be forgotten. The feeling in the pit of your stomach when you make such a change is one that a drug addict chasing a high couldn't come close to relating with. It's a feeling that becomes so desirable you want to repeat it over and over. A wise man once said that "true charity is when you give, knowing that in no way could those you help ever pay you back."
There are people in need everywhere you turn, and you have the power and the time to help. This simple task put got us focused and on the map. We had changed two lives, and because of that, ours would never be the same...
